Heimat is the manufactory that keeps this rare leaf entirely within the country: from the field through fermentation in Payerne to refinement in Steinach on Lake Constance. This compendium gathers the knowledge behind it – varieties, craft, care.
Two characters. One origin.
Anyone who has held a fermented Swiss leaf between their fingers understands why connoisseurs speak of it with such reverence: dense, aromatic, with a depth mass-produced tobacco simply does not know. Every Heimat product exists in two varieties. Both grow on the same Swiss fields – their character parts ways only later: in the curing method and in the duration of fermentation. It is not the recipe that decides, but time.
The aroma is not made in a laboratory. It emerges over weeks of fermentation in Payerne – shaped by the soil, by the summer, by patience. Connoisseurs taste Swiss tobacco the way they taste a great wine: every vintage carries its own signature, every terroir its own hand. It is precisely this singularity that makes it a rarity.

RYO stands for « Roll Your Own ». The field-fresh fine cut reaches the 30g pouch by the shortest route – barely stored, its character unaltered. To roll your own is to own the ritual: the leaf, the paper, the moment.
MYO stands for « Make Your Own » – tobacco for filling filter tubes. The 250g tin is the grand reserve of the manufactory: a hand-picked traditional blend for those who do not sample Heimat, but live it. Every tin comes from a documented batch – traceable back to the field.

This tobacco carries history in its fibers. The recipe comes from our great-grandfather – developed in a time when fields were still read like a book: line by line, leaf by leaf. It wasn't blended, it was composed. Passed down through generations, never industrialized, but treasured like a handwritten letter. Our RYO consists of a finely balanced blend of Swiss Burley and Virginia—both grown in soils that root rather than export. The Burley lends the blend its deep, nutty undertone; the Virginia brings the lighter tones—a restrained sweetness that doesn't flatter, but rather supports. The result isn't a blend for everyone—but rather a blend for those who read flavor in layers.
Fermentation takes place in Payerne, where we give the tobacco time and space to develop its natural flavor profile. No overstimulation. No rushing. The cut is made only afterward – in our manufactory on Lake Constance, using the purest Swiss mountain spring water and the knowledge that every detail matters: cut length, moisture content, tension, burn.
